Credit Card Review The Virgin Atlantic American Express® Card from Bank of America - Black, issued by Bank of America, is designed for those who travel frequently with Virgin Atlantic Airways or any of its partners and would like to take advantage of the mileage reward program. Through the reward program, cardholders earn 3 miles per dollar spent with Virgin Atlantic Airways and one mile per dollar spent on all other purchases. 20,000 bonus miles are applied to the account upon the first purchase. An additional 15,000 miles will be applied to the account every year on the date of the account opening as long as the cardmember reaches $25,000 in spending that year. Miles never expire, and there is no limit to the number of miles that can be earned. Along with earning miles, cardmembers can earn tier points at a rate of one tier point for every $2,500 in purchases made with their card. There is a two point cap on the amount of tier point that can be earned during each month and a 24 point limit for the year. The amount of points a cardmember has determines their status within the rewards program.The annual fee of $90 is reasonable when you consider how quickly your rewards can add up. There is a 0% introductory rate that applies to purchases, balance transfers, cash advance checks, and direct deposits for the first six billing cycles, and the interest rate is above average for a reward card after the introductory rate expires.In addition to the rewards program, cardholders can expect various benefits such as purchase protection, auto rental insurance, and various travel and emergency assistance services.Therefore, those who frequently fly with Virgin Atlantic Airways and plan to take advantage of the rewards program will benefit most from what the Virgin Atlantic Black Card has to offer.
